No wonder the CEBU CITY MAYOR RAMA was able to gain adherents from, say, the mountain barangays where his infrastructure projects are visible and in Cebu City. No wonder, too, that the mayor, who looked lonely after he bolted from the BOPK early in his term, has looked formidable as a candidate because of the perception that he was able to deliver the services that his predecessor, Osmeña, failed to attend to because of his obsession with the South Road Properties. Rama repaved numerous roads, got Osmena Blvd walkways all widened and recemented, and built numerous parks which the city desparately needs.

The ombudsman’s integrity for OSMENA GRAFT CASE?



IS IT true that the graft case filed against Rep. Tomas Osmeña (Cebu City, south district) might be dismissed?

According to sources at the anti-graft office, Graft Investigator Alejandro Burden has recommended its dismissal for lack of evidence.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama filed the charges against Osmeña for allegedly violating the Anti-graft and Corrupt Practices Act after he accepted two Dodge Chargers from Michael Gleissner of Bigfoot Entertainment.

Rama accused Osmeña of violating The Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, which prohibits public officials and employees from soliciting or accepting, directly or indirectly, “any gift, gratuity, favor, entertainment, loan or anything of monetary value from any person in the course of their officials duties or in connection with any operation being regulated by, or any transaction which may be affected by the functions of their office.”

How can we stop graft and corruption when there are people at the ombudsman who are playing favoritism to satisfy their personal needs? Can we still trust the integrity if this office? Read the full editorial here in Cebu Sunstar click link
